Almeda Stoel-Dame

Mrs. Almeda A. Dame, an old resident of this city died at her home on Gund avenue this morning at 10:50 o'clock. Her demise was due to old age and a slight stroke of paralysis. She has been slightly ill about one week and no change for the worse seemed to show itself until this morning. The deceased was born in Burlington, Racine County, Wisconsin, on October 9, 1845 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Stoel. She was married in Burlington, Wisconsin, February 23, 1862, to Joseph A. Dame, who still survives her. Shortly after their marriage Mrs. and Mrs. Dame moved to Freeport, where they have resided since. She is also survived by the following children: Addison J. Dame, of Mobridge, S.D., Mrs. Nellie Comeford, Mrs. Bertha Isaacs, Mrs. Flora Krueger and James Dame all of this city. The following step-children also survive her: Mrs. Samuel Shannessy, Mrs. Carrie Dinderman both of this city, and Mrs. Ella Congor of Providence, Rhode Island. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of this city and attended regularly when in good health. She had suffered more or less throughout her life with rheumatism and about twenty years ago was a helpless cripple, but had improved greatly until she was able to be about again. She was grandmother to twenty-nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral will be held from the home on Gund avenue, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. F.E. Webb will officiate and interment will be made in the city cemetery.
